Home of the Brave, 2018
Polyptych, C-Prints, 43.2 x 27.9 cm
No Nation Gallery, Chicago
Four days after his arrival in Chicago, the artist witnessed a shooting: The bouncer of the nightclub in the neighboring building of the artist's residence was shot four times on the street. The police marked the places where the bullets were found with white color circles. In the work the four circles are arranged on staves, showing the last four tones of the American national anthem: Home of the Brave. The horizontal division also references Chicago's coat of arms. Each year more than 2,500 people are shot in Chicago.
