Die “Freedom Cap” der Künstler:innen nutzt diese Ausdrucksform kapitalistischen Marketings und setzt sie im Sinne der Freiheit ein: Sie trägt die Aufschrift “Danke, dass Du mich siehst. Schön Dich zu sehen. Küsschen, Freiheit”. In ihrem Inneren sind Handlungsanweisungen versteckt, die nur von den Träger:innen gelesen werden können und diese dazu ermutigen sollen den Begriff “Freiheit” selbst zu befragen und im Zusammenleben mit anderen wirksam zu machen. Das Einnähen der Handlungsanweisungen in die Innenseite verleiht ihnen etwas Geheimes und verweist auf konspirative Aktivitäten, die dann in gezielten öffentlichen Aktionen ihren Ausdruck finden. So rücke anstelle eines abstrakten Freiheitsbegriffes die Menschen unserer Gesellschaft ins Zentrum von Erinnerungskultur und eine kollektive, facettenreiche Verkörperung wird als Alternative zu einem ortsgebundenen Denkmal präsentiert.

Today, it is primarily a fashionable accessory and a carrier of advertising messages from advertising and politics.
