[English version below]

The work explores the intersection of technology, work culture, and leisure through the transformation of a seemingly innocuous object: the ping-pong paddle. The installation consists of a video and a series of objects that trace the paddle’s evolution into a weapon.

The transformation of the paddle into a weapon speaks to the  start-up culture, where leisure activities are sometimes also used to optimize productivity and maximize profits. Ping-pong tables become part of a company’s branding, signaling to potential employees that they can work hard and play hard. However, as the installation suggests, these seemingly innocent activities can become tools of domination and coercion, with employees vying for the coveted title of „office champion“ and managers using games to monitor and control their subordinates.

“Domination Evolution “ is a critique of the ways in which work and leisure have become increasingly intertwined in contemporary capitalism. Through the transformation of the ping-pong paddle into a weapon, the installation reveals the darker side of start-up culture and encourages us to question hidden power dynamics and the ways in which we work, play, and live.
