Das Land, das die Kartoffeln nicht beschützt, geht bald unter.
Die Arbeit Kartoffelrepublik ist eine ortsspezifische Intervention in der Ulmer Wilhelmsburg, die Teil der Bundesfestung, der größten Festungsanlage Europas ist. Die Intervention besteht in der Gründung einer ein-Mann-Republik, die sich zurückgezogen in den Räumen der Festungsanlage befindet – hier herrscht ein optimales Klima für die Kartoffel. Die abgeschottete Kartoffelrepublik ist ein autarker Staat, der vollkommen auf die Kartoffel ausgerichtet ist. Die Kartoffel wird zum Zentrum des Systems, zum Nahrungsmittel- und Energielieferanten, zum Identitätsstifter und zum religiösen Verehrungsobjekt, dessen größte Bedrohung der Kartoffelkäfer ist. Warnschilder weisen auf die ständige Bedrohung durch den Erzfeind von außen hin. Die Republik befindet sich im dauerhaften Ausnahmezustand, der integraler Bestandteil der Legitimationsstrategie des Mikrostaates ist.

The work Potato Republic is a site-specific intervention in the Ulm Wilhelmsburg, which is part of the Federal Fortress, the largest fortress in Europe. The intervention is the foundation of a micro nation, located in the gloomy rooms of the fortress, which provide an ideal environment for the potato. The secluded potato republic represents a self-sufficient state that is completely focused on the potato. The potato becomes the center of the system, food and energy supply, the core of identity, and a religious object of worship, whose greatest threat is the Colorado potato beetle. Warning signs point to the narrative that the state is under constant threat from the archenemy. The republic is in a permanent state of emergency, which is an integral part of the legitimacy strategy of the micro nation.
